Archbishop Nikitas Loulias of Thyateira and Great Britain emphasized the importance of pilgrimage in the Christian life during the celebration of Saint Paraskeva in Iași on Monday.
He highlighted Saint Paraskeva as an example of a pilgrim, stating, “Saint Paraskeva herself was a pilgrim, traveling and living in Jerusalem and the Holy Places until she was guided to return to her homeland. Her life was a continuous journey to the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Archbishop Nikitas encouraged Christians to see their entire life as a pilgrimage towards Jesus Christ and His Truth. He quoted Saint Paul the Apostle, urging believers to purify themselves and strive for holiness.
During the Feast of Saint Paraskeva, Archbishop Nikitas led prayers for strength, courage, and hope, invoking the young confessor’s spirit from ancient times.
Meditate on the words of the Holy Scriptures
The archbishop urged the faithful to reflect on the words of the Holy Scriptures during the pilgrimage, quoting Prophet Isaiah inviting believers to ascend to the house of the Lord for grace and blessings.
He emphasized the need for peace in the world, rooted in the peace of Christ, and called for honoring Saint Paraskeva and living in a way worthy of divine grace.
