The Holy Synod of the Archdiocese of Ohrid, gathered on December 12 at the Archdiocese headquarters, expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Syria and Lebanon, as well as for the faithful of the Patriarchate of Antioch. The Synod discussed various issues and developments affecting the life of the Church.
In response, the Holy Synod announced the escalation of its prayers to God, earnestly asking for the safeguarding of Christians in Syria and the wider Middle East under the pastoral leadership of Patriarch John X of Antioch. The Synod also prayed for their unwavering faith, spiritual resilience, and the realization of lasting peace in the region.
Archbishop of Ohrid Shows Solidarity with Patriarch of Antioch
In a communication addressed to Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East, Archbishop Stephan of Ohrid conveyed the steadfast solidarity and prayers of the Ohrid Archdiocese.
“Your Beatitude,” the letter began, “we want to assure you of our sincere empathy and continuous prayers for the Syrian people and all Orthodox Christians under your pastoral care in the East.”
Archbishop Stephan implored the All-Merciful God to offer spiritual solace and strength to the Syrian people, who have consistently shown unwavering faith, hope, and Christ-like love even in the most challenging circumstances. He also prayed for the guidance of the Gospel to lead Patriarch John X during this uncertain time.
The Archbishop expressed optimism that the God of peace would bring back peace to the troubled land of Syria, serving as a steadfast protector in these difficult times.
The letter concluded with a message of fraternal love and a pledge of ongoing prayers and solidarity from the Ohrid Archdiocese.
