This morning, Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece met with Lina Mendoni, the Greek Minister of Culture, at the Archdiocese. They discussed various topics, with a focus on the preservation of significant Church monuments.
During a press briefing, Archbishop Ieronymos emphasized the importance of protecting these cultural landmarks. When asked about Church-State relations, he stressed that while there are areas for collaboration, the Church also has principles that cannot be compromised. He stated, “The State and Church can work together on certain matters, but we have principles that are non-negotiable.”
Also present at the meeting were the Protosyncellus, Archimandrite Varnavas Theocharis, and Archimandrite Nikodimos Farmakis, General Director of the Ecclesiastical Central Financial Service (EKYO).
