Archbishop Nikitas presided over Orthros (Matins) and celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of SS. Cosmas and Damian in Ipswich on Sunday, 16th February 2025. Concelebrating were Revd Protopresbyter John Garnett, Priest in Charge, Revd Presbyter David Gilchrist, Revd Presbyter Kenneth Parker, and Revd Archdeacon George Tsourous.
Four sisters from the Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of St. John the Baptist in Essex chanted during the Service, adding to its solemnity with Byzantine hymnody. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop Nikitas elevated Nathan Cuthbert Churm to the Order of Reader, emphasizing the importance of humility, reverence, and dedication in serving as a Reader in the Church.
This pastoral visit to Ipswich exemplifies Archbishop Nikitas’ dedication to supporting smaller parishes. He has committed to visiting and encouraging local communities throughout the Archdiocese this year, recognizing their essential role in the Church’s life.
The celebration concluded with a festive meal in the Community Hall, where attendees enjoyed fellowship and expressed gratitude for the blessings of the day.
