On May 30, 2024, the annual gathering of presbyterae from the Warsaw-Bielsk diocese took place at the Monastery of Saints Martha and Mary on Grabarka Holy Mount.
The event began with a Holy Liturgy, led by Bishop Warsonofiusz of Siemiatycze, accompanied by clergy members. Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland, along with Bishop Paweł of Hajnówka, also participated in the solemn service, joining in prayerful attendance.
Prior to the meeting, Metropolitan Sawa led a prayer and then proceeded to outline the key points of the meeting’s agenda. He emphasized the challenges facing every Christian in today’s world, highlighting the importance of protecting life and nurturing the family unit. He also underlined the significance of fostering spiritual growth at both individual and community levels.
The Metropolitan stressed the role of a priest’s family as exemplars within the community, emphasizing the need for mindful and accountable behavior from every member. In the face of new phenomena that may contradict Orthodox teachings, he urged constant evaluation and a firm stance when necessary, calling for wisdom, prudence, and unity.
This year’s meeting focused on the theme: “My assessment, as a matushka, of the changes taking place in the modern Orthodox world. Suggestions.” The gathering was inaugurated by Metropolitan Sawa, who introduced the theme to the attendees. The keynote address was delivered by matushka Elżbieta Aleksiejuk from Warsaw, with the co-report presented by matushka Ewa Zhukovicka from Orla.
