Mount Athos is known as the orchard of the Virgin Mary, where many spiritual flowers have blossomed in the sanctified soil blessed by the Theotokos herself.
Today, on Sunday, 21 June, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Fathers of Mount Athos, who dedicated their lives to God through asceticism, fasting, and prayer, receiving heavenly gifts in return. These saints are described by Saint Nicodemus as examples of virtue, following a holy life and remaining steadfast in their faith.
Mount Athos is not only a place of holiness but also the spiritual heart of Orthodoxy, preserving the Orthodox Faith and Tradition through the ages. It houses sacred relics, miraculous icons, and is home to revered saints such as Venerable Elder Paisios, who was canonized in January 2015.
