On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 10 a.m., Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem will visit the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, where he will meet with Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens.
It is noteworthy that this will mark the first meeting between the Archbishop and the Patriarch of Jerusalem since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2002, which initiated hostilities between Israel and the Palestinians.
Since the onset of the conflict, the Archbishop has been vocal in his dismay over the situation and has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, advocating for the safe return of prisoners to their homes.
Highlighting the rights of children and civilians to live in peace, he emphasized the importance of religious leaders uniting their voices to urge an end to the war and the initiation of dialogue for the attainment of peace. Efforts are being made to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
