Bishop Constantine of Sassima has been chosen as the Metropolitan of Denver by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, currently convened at the Phanar.
It is worth noting that the three candidates for the Diocese, alongside Bishop Constantine, were Archimandrite George Nikas and Bishop Sevastianos of Zilon.
Biography
Bishop Constantine Moralis of Sassima was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1966.
His father, Panagiotis, was born in Athens to refugee parents from Asia Minor, while his mother, Sarah, hails from Mobile, Alabama, with roots in Patmos and Egypt.
At the age of nine, he began his service as a priest at the Holy Vema under the late Fr. In 1988, he enrolled at the Hellenic College and School of Theology at Holy Cross Boston. He was ordained as a Deacon and Presbyter in 1996 by the late Metropolitan Silas of New Jersey. In 2002, Archbishop Demetrios conferred upon him the title of Archimandrite and appointed him as the Priestly Superior of the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Baltimore.
Bishop Constantine was elected as the Bishop of Sassima on July 22, 2022, and has since served as the Archbishop of the Diocese of Denver.
