The right hand of St. John the Russian is set to arrive in Romania on Thursday.
The revered Saint’s hand will be ceremoniously placed for veneration on Friday morning at Pantocrator Monastery in Drăgănești-Vlașca, Teleorman County, where it will be on display until May 21.
Pantocrator Monastery, dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene, is considered equal to the Apostles.
This historic occasion marks the first time since 1880 that St. John the Russian’s hand has left Mount Athos. It was originally gifted to Saint Panteleimon Monastery (Rusikon) as a token of gratitude for their assistance in constructing a church dedicated to the Saint on the island of Evia, Greece.
