I recently showcased my company’s knitwear Collection at the Dallas World Trade Center. I had planned to distribute Chabad Lubavitch publications like L’Chaim, The Scroll, and My Story to Jewish individuals I encountered at the trade show, which attracted attendees from across the U.S., Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands.
While taking a break from my appointments, I roamed the Dallas Mart in search of Jewish attendees to share the Chabad Lubavitch publications with. Despite several attempts, I hadn’t met anyone suitable until I crossed paths with two women in the halls.
One of the women had a Jewish last name, and upon greeting her with shalom alecheim and wishing her shana tova, we discovered our shared Jewish heritage. She expressed her fondness for the Chabad rabbi in Tenafly, N.J., and mentioned her family’s connection to The Old Montefiore Cemetery in Cambria Heights. In response to her appreciation for Chabad, I gave her a copy of L’Chaim Weekly, which she gratefully accepted.
Later, as I rummaged through my bag for promotional brochures, I stumbled upon a set of Shabbat candles that had been tucked away for over a year. Recognizing the significance of this find, I sought out the Jewish woman I had met earlier and entrusted the candles to her companion, urging her to pass them on.
May we all draw inspiration from the Rebbe’s mission of kindling Jewish souls, no matter how far they may be, and continue to spread light and connection within our community.
