On Wednesday, Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești, Secretary of the Holy Synod, welcomed Tamar Beruchashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Romania, at the Patriarchal Palace in Bucharest.
Bishop Varlaam greeted the ambassador warmly and highlighted the strong and long-standing friendship between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Georgian Orthodox Church.
The Ambassador expressed her gratitude for the meeting and emphasized the importance of Saint Anthimos the Iberian, a revered historical and spiritual figure for both the Romanian and Georgian people. She referred to him as a symbolic link between the two nations.
During their conversation, Bishop Varlaam and Ambassador Beruchashvili discussed practical ways to strengthen cooperation between the two Orthodox Churches.
They suggested initiatives to increase the presence of Romanian Orthodox Christianity in Georgia and to promote Georgian Orthodoxy in Romania.
At the end of the meeting, Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești wished the ambassador continued success in her diplomatic endeavors in Romania.
