The Church honors Saint Timothy in Symbols, a young man who dedicated himself to monasticism and became a miraculous wonderworker by God’s grace. Also commemorated are Saint Eustathius of Antioch and Saint Zacharias, Archbishop of Jerusalem.
Saint Eustathius, hailing from Pamphylia, lived during Constantine’s reign. He was a prominent Orthodox teacher who played a key role in the First Council of Nicaea, which condemned the heresy of Arianism. Despite facing opposition from pro-Arian bishops, who used slander to strip him of his position and exile him to Philippi in Macedonia, Saint Eustathius remained steadfast in his beliefs. He passed away in exile, but God, in His justice, revealed the truth about the Saint, vindicating him.
In AD 477, a century after his death, the holy relic of Saint Eustathius was transferred to Antioch, sparking displays of respect and love. It is noteworthy that Saint John Chrysostomos, a great Hierarch, composed an encomium in honor of Saint Eustathius.
