The meeting between the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Archbishop of Milan, Mario Delpini, along with his auxiliary bishops, clergy, and lay collaborators took place on Tuesday afternoon, February 18, 2025.
Ecumenical Patriarch warmly greeted Archbishop Delpini and his delegation in Italian, offering fraternal wishes for Pope Francis’s recovery.
During the meeting, the Ecumenical Patriarch highlighted the spiritual connection between Constantinople and Milan, welcoming the Archbishop to the Patriarchal Church. He mentioned his previous visits to Milan in 1998 and 2013 and the upcoming commemoration of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea with Pope Francis in Turkey.
Archbishop Delpini shared details about their pilgrimage to Constantinople and the planned visit to Nicaea. He introduced the Hierarchs and other members of his delegation to the Ecumenical Patriarch.
