The Church honors Martyrs Aquila and Priscilla, Venerable Eulogius of Alexandria, Patriarch of Alexandria, Saints Abraham, Martinian, and Symeon, the founders of the Hilandar Monastery today.
Saints Aquila and Priscilla, a Jewish couple of tentmakers in Corinth, welcomed Saint Paul the Apostle during his preaching of the Holy Gospel. Impressed by his teachings, they became his assistants after being baptized. The Apostle Paul praised their virtues in his epistles, acknowledging their contributions to the Church.
Despite persecution, Aquila and Priscilla remained steadfast in their faith and were martyred for their beliefs, earning the crown of Apostles and Martyrs. Their example teaches us the importance of love, humility, diligence, faith, and hope in daily life, especially in marriage.
