On February 11, 2025, Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa warmly welcomed a group of pilgrims from the Church of Serbia, led by Hierodeacon Vasileios Mpoursats, Director of the Office of Religious Tourism of the Serbian Patriarchate.
During the meeting, the Patriarch shared insights into the history of the Alexandrian Church, its extensive missionary work across Africa, and the challenges it faces.
He also expressed deep admiration for the spiritual leaders of the Serbian Church and their significant contributions, extending well-wishes to Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia and the Serbian people.
In response, Hierodeacon Vasileios Mpoursats expressed gratitude for the Patriarch’s hospitality and conveyed the group’s enthusiasm for the missionary and humanitarian work of the Second-Throne Church in Africa.
The pilgrims later toured the Patriarchal See before the Patriarch received a visit from Bishop Joseph of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
Bishop Joseph discussed his pastoral ministry in Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, and Malawi, as well as plans for healthcare initiatives in these regions. He conveyed greetings from Patriarch Tawadros II of the Coptic Church.
The Patriarch of Alexandria appreciated the discussions on healthcare initiatives and extended greetings to the Coptic Patriarch, emphasizing the peaceful coexistence of the two Churches in Egypt.
