A delegation from the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) had a meeting with the president of the Conference of European Churches (CEC), Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain, on 30 January, at his residence in London.
The discussion centered on CEC’s support for Ukraine through its Pathways to Peace initiative. Archbishop Nikitas highlighted CEC’s initiatives to advocate for justice, peace, and reconciliation in Ukraine. He also shared insights on interfaith dialogue and religious life in the United Kingdom.
The UCCRO delegation expressed gratitude to CEC for its support and efforts to amplify Ukrainian voices in ecumenical and political dialogues. Both parties explored ways to enhance cooperation in 2025 to advance peacebuilding endeavors.
In December of the previous year, CEC organized the Just Peace Consultation in Warsaw, convening 80 participants, including representatives from the UCCRO and other Ukrainian and European churches. The event delved into theological, ethical, and practical facets of just peace amidst Russia’s conflict with Ukraine, focusing on truth, justice, and reconciliation.
CEC remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine, collaborating with churches and communities to foster justice and reconciliation through dialogue and collaboration.
