Patriarch John X, leader of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, expressed his condolences to the Holy Synod of the Church of Albania on the passing of Archbishop Anastasios.
“We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of His Beatitude, Archbishop Anastasios,” wrote the Patriarch. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the clergy and faithful of the Church of Albania during this difficult time.”
Patriarch John X also announced that Metropolitan Ignatius of France and Western and Southern Europe, and Metropolitan Silouan of the British Isles and Ireland, would represent the Church of Antioch at the funeral.
“May his memory be eternal,” the message concluded, reflecting the high regard and admiration for Archbishop Anastasios’s life and work.
