Many churches in Albania observed the feast of St. Athanasius the Great on January 18, including the Church of St. Athanasius in Korçë, the Church of St. Athanasius in Elbasan, the Church of St. Athanasius in Bularat, Gjirokastër, and the Church of St. Athanasius in Voskopojë, a designated historical monument.
Prayers were offered for the recovery of Archbishop Anastasios by the faithful.
The church in Korçë paid tribute to Saint Athanasius with a full congregation in attendance.
Metropolitan Anthony led the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Athanasius in Elbasan, emphasizing in his sermon that “Saint Athanasius vehemently opposed heresy and guided the way of Orthodoxy, making him a true adornment of our Church.”
Following the Divine Liturgy, a procession with the saint’s icon was held, followed by a coffee gathering for all the faithful at the church’s spiritual center.
