Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic event and extended his condolences to various parties affected by the disaster.
On December 25, 2024, a tragic incident occurred when an Azerbaijan Airlines flight traveling from Baku to Grozny crashed near Aktau in western Kazakhstan. The crash resulted in the loss of many lives, although around 30 passengers managed to survive.
In a message to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Patriarch Kirill offered his heartfelt condolences for the loss of Azerbaijani citizens. He requested President Aliyev to convey words of comfort and support to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
