Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East of the Greek Orthodox Church, welcomed the envoy of the new government of Syria, Dr. Abu Omar, at the Patriarchal Residence in Damascus.
The envoy conveyed greetings from Leader Ahmad Al-Sharaa to the Patriarch. The meeting discussed various important topics, including the status of Christians as native citizens in Syria, emphasizing their freedom, rights, and responsibilities beyond the traditional classification of minorities and majorities. It also highlighted their role in shaping the future of Syria in collaboration with all sectors of Syrian society, contributing to the development of a new democratic constitution that upholds the principles of freedom, justice, and equality.
