Bill 167, known as the Orthodox Christian Week Act, was officially adopted by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario on December 11, 2024. This bill designates the seven-day period following Orthodox Easter Sunday as Orthodox Christian Week.
The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada expressed gratitude towards Tom Rakocevic, Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), who sponsored the bill, as well as MPPs Aris Babikian, Effie J. Triantafilopoulos, Sheref Sabawy, and Minister Natalia Kusendova-Bashta for their contributions to its passage.
This achievement was welcomed by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada, as it emphasized the significance of the Orthodox Christian Faith in Ontario and across Canada.
