On December 9, 2024, the Chapel of the Resurrection in Tirana was the venue for the formal announcement of the election of the newly appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Kruja, Anastasios (Mamaj). This announcement came shortly after his election by the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania.
During the service, Bishop Anastasios expressed his gratitude to the Holy Synod and Archbishop Anastasios of Albania for the trust placed in him to serve the Church and its believers. He acknowledged the significance of the moment and the responsibility that comes with his new role.
Archbishop Anastasios, along with members of the Holy Synod, clergy, and laity, congratulated and offered prayers for the new Bishop. The election of Bishop Anastasios is a momentous occasion for the Diocese of Kruja and the wider Church in Albania.
The election process, overseen by Archbishop Anastasios, was unanimous and in line with the Church’s Statute. As the Auxiliary Bishop, Anastasios will also serve as a member of the Holy Synod, contributing to the leadership of the Autocephalous Church.
The ordination of Bishop Anastasios is scheduled to take place on December 15, 2024, at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana, officially marking the beginning of his ministry.
