Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew participated in the funeral service of the late Leonidas Asteris at the Patriarchal Cathedral on Friday, December 6, 2024.
The funeral service was led by Metropolitan Theoliptos of Iconium, with Metropolitans Stephen of Kallioupolis and Madytos and Maximos of Silyvria in attendance.
The Grand Archdeacon Alexander conveyed the condolences of the Mother Church.
The eulogy was given by third-ranking Deacon, Barnabas.
Also present were Metropolitans Eirinaios of Myriophyton and Peristasis, Athenagoras of Kydonia, Ioakeim of Bursa, Bishops Benjamin of Tralleis and Paisios of Xanthopolis, clergy of the Patriarchal Court, the Archdiocese of Constantinople, and neighboring Metropolises, along with the Archons of the Great Church of Christ, relatives of the deceased, and representatives of the chanters.
The late Leonidas Asteris was laid to rest at the Cemetery of the Transfiguration in Şişli.
