The Great Vespers for the Feast of St. Sabbas the Holy were presided over by the Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa in the Catholikon of the Patriarchal Monastery dedicated to the Saint.
Among those concelebrating with him were the Metropolitans Panteleimon of Ptolemais, Narcissus of Pelusium, and Germanos of Tamiathus.
In his address to the faithful, the Patriarch expressed his wishes that St. Sabbas would bring comfort, blessing, and spiritual warmth to their lives and families. He also shared about his recent missionary journey to Zimbabwe, Angola, Johannesburg, and Pretoria.
A touching moment occurred when the Patriarch, with tears in his eyes, offered words of gratitude before the venerated icon of St. Sabbas on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his election to the Patriarchal See. As a token of gratitude, he dedicated a precious pastoral staff made of African materials to the Holy Altar.
Prior to this, the Patriarch received Captain Chrysostomos Prangos of the Hellenic Navy at the Patriarchal Palace in Alexandria, who assumed the role of Liaison Officer between the Hellenic Navy and its Egyptian counterpart.
