On Thursday, December 5, 2024, the Solemn Vespers in honor of Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra the Wonderworker, were celebrated with grandeur and spiritual devotion at the Church of St. Nicholas, the centerpiece of the historic Greek Orthodox Community in Trieste.
The service was presided over by Metropolitan Polykarpos of Italy and Malta, accompanied by clergy of the Metropolis, in an atmosphere imbued with reverence and prayer. The presence of a large congregation, along with representatives of local authorities, highlighted the importance of the feast day for the Orthodox Community of the city.
Among those attending the service were the Prefect of Trieste, the Mayor of the city, and senior political and military officials, who expressed their support for the long-standing presence of Hellenism and Orthodoxy in the region. The Vespers served as a moment of unity and solidarity for the historic Greek Community, which continues to preserve its rich cultural and religious heritage.
