On December 2, 2024, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine met with the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Ukraine, Mr. Pantelis Alexandros Dimitrakopoulos at his residence.
During the meeting, Metropolitan Epifaniy discussed the important role of the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery in Ukraine’s modern history and expressed gratitude to Greece for their support during the Russian aggression. The topics of conversation included Ukraine’s European integration efforts, the ecclesiastical landscape, and the dialogue with Orthodox communities regarding the Tomos of Autocephaly. Metropolitan Epifaniy also condemned the influence of the “Russian World” ideology on Ukrainian consciousness.
Additionally, discussions touched upon collaborations in cultural and educational fields, with a specific focus on providing opportunities for OCU students to pursue training and internships in Greek academic institutions.
Metropolitan Epifaniy emphasized the resilience of Ukraine in the face of challenges and expressed confidence in achieving victory and peace. He also highlighted the importance of unity among Orthodox Ukrainians and the strengthening of the autocephalous Church.
