After months of calling for a deal to free Omer Neutra and the other Israeli hostages in Gaza, his family is once again urging for their release. Following the announcement of Neutra’s death in Hamas’ attack on October 7, 2023, his parents and brother are making a heartfelt plea to President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump to secure the freedom of the remaining hostages.
The Neutra family expressed the anguish they endured over the 423 days of uncertainty before learning of Omer’s tragic fate. They emphasized the need for strong leadership to bring the hostages home and honor the memory of those who have been killed or captured.
Despite the devastating news, the Neutras remain steadfast in their advocacy for the hostages’ release, emphasizing the importance of action over words. They urge the Israeli government to collaborate with the U.S. presidents to leverage all resources for the safe return of the hostages.
In response to Neutra’s killing, Trump issued a stern warning of consequences if the hostages are not released by his inauguration day, while Biden expressed his deep sorrow and commitment to bringing the hostages back to their families.
A memorial service for Neutra will be held, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in his honor.
