Archbishop Anastasios of the Orthodox Church of Albania recently had a meeting with Edmond Brahimaj, the leader of the Bektashi community in Albania, which took place in a very friendly atmosphere.
During their discussion, both leaders emphasized the importance of Albania’s religious communities working together to combat divisive rhetoric and address the challenges facing the world today. This commitment to unity and cooperation has been a longstanding tradition in Albania, passed down through generations.
Archbishop Anastasios commended the efforts of the Bektashi leader in promoting religious tolerance in Albania, while Brahimaj praised the ongoing interfaith collaboration in promoting cultural, social, and patriotic values in Albanian society. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to fostering harmonious religious coexistence in the country.
Archbishop Anastasios, known for his inclusive approach and rejection of extremism, serves as a role model for peaceful coexistence through his words and actions. As the current chair of the Interreligious Council of Albania, he demonstrates that different religious beliefs can come together to address social issues and promote love for humanity.
The collaborative efforts inspired by Archbishop Anastasios have been instrumental in maintaining peace and harmony in Albania’s diverse religious landscape, earning recognition both domestically and internationally.
