The Theological School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the auspices of the Church of Greece, is set to host an international theological conference titled “Orthodox Theology in the 21st Century: Challenges and Prospects” from November 24 to 28, 2024.
The opening ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 24, at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the University of Athens. Notable guests, including the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, will be in attendance. The keynote address, titled “The Mission and Work of the Orthodox Church and Theology in the 21st Century,” will be delivered by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The conference will feature distinguished hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, such as Archbishop Makarios of Australia. Archbishop Makarios will present a highly anticipated paper on “Artificial Intelligence and Orthodox Theology” on Tuesday, November 26, exploring the convergence of technology and faith.
This significant event aims to tackle crucial theological matters and provide a platform for discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing Orthodox theology in an ever-changing world.
