Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria and Exarch of Hungary presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Vienna on Sunday, October 6, 2024. He was joined by Bishop-elect Maximos of Aristi, Archpriest Ioannis Nikolitse, Presbyter Aristeidis Ganosis, and Deacon Goran Ostojic.
During the service, Deacon Ostojic was ordained a priest to serve the liturgical needs of the Holy Metropolis of Austria Parish in Linz. Visitors from Metropolitan Arsenios’s hometown of Gergeri in Heraklion, Crete, were in attendance and warmly welcomed by the Metropolitan.
Metropolitan Arsenios addressed the newly ordained priest, emphasizing the responsibilities of the priestly ministry and the importance of upholding the unity and canonical order of the Church. He encouraged the priest to prioritize the proclamation of the Gospel and leading others to Christ.
In his homily, the Metropolitan reflected on the Gospel passage about the resurrection of the widow’s son in Nain, highlighting Christ’s power over life and death. He urged the faithful to keep their relationship with Christ alive.
