The Church commemorates the lives of Martyr Nestor, a disciple of Great-Martyr Dimitrios, and Saint Claudia Procula, the wife of Pontius Pilate.
Saint Nestor hailed from Thessaloniki and remained steadfast in his faith in Christ, following the teachings of his mentor until the very end. He could not tolerate the blasphemy and mockery directed at the Lord and the Christian community by the pagans and the powerful Lyaeus.
Seeking the blessing of the imprisoned Saint Dimitrios, Nestor, empowered by God, confronted and defeated Lyaeus in battle, ultimately meeting his martyrdom by the sword. Through his sacrifice, he earned the crown of martyrdom, becoming a valiant soldier of Christ.
The challenges of atheism, pride, authority, disregard for righteousness, and morality that Saint Nestor faced are not unique to his time but continue to assail Christians, particularly the youth, in every era.
