On Friday, October 11, Archbishop Makarios of Australia warmly welcomed Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the Archdiocesan Residence in Sydney. The Patriarch was accompanied by Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki, Grand Protosyncellus Gregory, Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios, and Patriarchal Deacon Eulogios.
In a brief pause from his busy schedule of visits and official meetings, the Ecumenical Patriarch had the opportunity to engage in discussions with the local Shepherd, Archbishop Makarios, addressing matters concerning the local Church. He also shared reflections on his experiences during the first days of his interactions and fellowship with the Christian faithful of the fifth continent.
Expressing his paternal gratitude for the work being done by the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, the Ecumenical Patriarch offered his heartfelt congratulations to Archbishop Makarios. He also extended his wishes for the local Church to continue thriving in Christ as it embarks on the second century of its life and mission.
