On Saturday, October 5, at noon, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by Archbishop Makarios of Australia and Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos, visited the official residence of the Prime Minister in Sydney, at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The meeting between the Ecumenical Patriarch and Prime Minister Albanese was productive, with discussions revolving around mutual interests, particularly concerning the Greek community and the Orthodox Church in Australia. The Ecumenical Patriarch expressed satisfaction with the positive institutional cooperation between the Australian Government and the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
Later, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop Makarios, and Metropolitan Kyrillos signed the guest book at the Prime Minister’s Residence.
Visit to Governor of New South Wales
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by Metropolitan Kyrillos and Archbishop Makarios, was warmly welcomed by the Governor of New South Wales, Margaret Beazley, at the Government House in Sydney on the same day.
The meeting focused on the Greek Orthodox presence in Australia and various current issues of broader interest. The Ecumenical Patriarch expressed gratitude to Governor Beazley for her support and cooperation with the Orthodox Church and the Greek community in New South Wales.
Subsequently, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the accompanying Hierarchs signed the guest book at the Government House in Sydney.
