Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, in his remarks during the Divine Liturgy in Sydney, expressed his joy and gratitude for the hospitality and the “miracles” he witnessed during his visit to Australia.
He highlighted the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Archdiocese of Australia, referring to it as a “chosen flock” of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
He went on to praise Archbishop Makarios, stating that he “has led the Archdiocese to glorious days.”
The Ecumenical Patriarch then delivered the new Constitution of the Archdiocese of Australia, calling it “an excellent text that addresses pastoral needs and restores canonical order.” The Ecumenical Patriarch stated that the new Constitution “ensures the unity of the flock” and lays the foundation for a strong and unified Archdiocese, safeguarding its future for generations to come.
In conclusion, he urged the faithful to stay true to the traditions of the Greek community and to uphold unity and peace within the local Church. With fatherly care, he blessed all those in attendance, expressing his deep gratitude for their love and devotion.
