On Sunday, September 22, 2024, Bishop Paisios of Diokleia was ordained at the Cathedral of Saint Sava in Belgrade. The Patriarch of Serbia presided over the Divine Liturgy, with clergy from various Orthodox Churches in attendance, including representatives from the Patriarchates of Moscow and Bulgaria, the Church of Greece, and the Archdiocese of Ohrid.
The ordination ceremony was well-attended by government officials from Serbia and Montenegro, as well as a large gathering of clergy, monks, nuns, and faithful followers. During the ceremony, the Metropolitan of Montenegro spoke about the ongoing presence of the Holy Spirit in the Church, highlighting the connection between Pentecost and the sacrament of episcopal ordination.
In his homily, the Patriarch of Serbia emphasized the significance and responsibilities of the episcopal office, presenting Bishop Paisios with the pastoral staff as a symbol of his new role. The congregation joyfully proclaimed “Axios!” in affirmation of the bishop’s ordination.
