According to the Russian news outlet Fontanka.ru, Patriarch Kirill had visited Saint Petersburg that day to address the faithful and local officials after the procession of the holy relics of Saint Alexander Nevsky. However, he started feeling unwell shortly after his homily, leading to the calling of an ambulance.
Sources suggest that the reason for his discomfort was the extreme heat. After undergoing medical examinations, Patriarch Kirill was discharged and advised to rest at home.
