On September 10, 2024, the Diocese of Warsaw-Bielsko celebrated the feast of its patron St. Job, Abbot of the Pochaev Lavra.
This year’s festivities took place at the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Grodzisk, in the Siemiatycze Deanery.
The day began with a welcoming ceremony for Metropolitan Sawa and the visiting bishops. The Divine Liturgy commenced at 9:00 a.m., presided over by Archbishop Grzegorz of Bielsko, with Bishop Paweł of Hajnówka, Bishop Warsonofiusz of Siemiatycze, and numerous clergy in attendance.
Fr. Remigiusz Sosnowy, vicar of St. John Climacus Parish in Warsaw, delivered a special sermon emphasizing the significance of names in the Bible. He highlighted St. Job’s strength of spirit, cultivated through asceticism, humility, and obedience, during challenging times for Orthodoxy in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a doxology was held before the icon of St. Job, and Metropolitan Sawa delivered an address. He emphasized the importance of having a heavenly patron and praised St. Job as a model of dedication to Christ and the Church, particularly in today’s challenging times.
The Warsaw-Bielsko Diocesan Clergy Choir, directed by Protodeacon Marek Maciuka, performed during the celebrations, which were attended by representatives of local authorities and parishioners.
