During his four-day visit to Chios, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew made a pilgrimage to the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in the village of Chalkeio. A large crowd gathered to receive his blessing and show their respect for his visit.
The event was attended by Metropolitan Markos of Chios, Psara, and Oinousses, actress Mimi Denisi, journalist Mr. Kostidis, North Aegean Region Governor Kostas Moutzouris and his wife, along with representatives from the Municipal Authority.
According to the Cultural Association of Chalkeio, this visit was considered one of the most significant events in the region in recent years. The residents and local institutions expressed their gratitude to the Ecumenical Patriarch for his presence and support.
Visit to the Holy Order of Saint Panteleimon of Chios
Following his visit to the Library of the Holy Metropolis of Chios “Agios Agapitos,” the Ecumenical Patriarch also toured the Holy Order of Saint Panteleimon.
Founded by the late Metropolitan of Chios, Panteleimon Fostinis, the Holy Order’s museum showcases artifacts and relics related to its founder’s life and ministry.
