Ambassador Cristian-Leon Țurcanu also visited the church in Taraclia de Salcia, part of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, where he met with the parish priest to discuss the challenges facing the community, plans to establish a social centre, and Moldova’s future in the European Union.
The Diocese of Southern Bessarabia is the rightful successor of the Diocese of Cetatea Albă and Ismail, established on March 10, 1923, as an integral part of the Romanian Orthodox Church following the Great Union. It is part of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, which was reactivated in 1992.
