Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew led the Divine Liturgy on August 23rd at the Church of Agioi Theodoroi in his hometown of Imbros for the Apodosis of the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.
Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Myra and Metropolitan Iakovos of Mexico joined the Ecumenical Patriarch in celebrating the Divine Liturgy, while Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos attended the service.
Clergy, nuns, Archons Offikialioi, officials from Imbrian Associations, and many faithful individuals were present.
The Metropolitan of Mexico delivered the Divine Word during the service.
Following the Divine Liturgy, there was a procession with the icon of the Virgin Mary to the Church of St. George for the Artoklasia service.
Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his joy in celebrating the Feast and Leave-taking of the Virgin Mary with the people of Imbros and their expatriate community, offering blessings for their protection and guidance by the Most Holy Theotokos.
The Metropolitan of Mexico was introduced to the congregation, highlighting his service to the missionary province covering communities in Central and Latin America.
The Ecumenical Patriarch thanked the Metropolitans of Imbros and Tenedos for their work and announced his attendance at the upcoming Panimbrian Conference in Athens.
A festive event organized by the Metropolis took place at the Association for Protection, Solidarity, and Sustainable Development “Imbros,” featuring traditional dances by the Lyceum of Greek Women in Drama.
Later in the day, the Ecumenical Patriarch presided over the Grand Vespers with a sermon by Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios, praising his dedication and hard work.
After the service, a cultural event showcased a performance by the “Ionia Aidon” choir from Heraklion, Crete.
