On Friday, August 9, 2024, the memory of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon was celebrated by the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
On this feast, the Church remembers that Saint Panteleimon was formerly called Pantoleon. A physician by profession, he healed a blind man in the name of Christ, thus becoming famous and martyred in the name of Christ by Maximian in 305.
His feast was celebrated in the Holy Monastery near the Patriarchate with Vespers and the Divine Liturgy, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Hesychios of Kapitolias, with the concelebration of the Archimandrites, Claudios and Philoumenos, Fr Farah Bandour and Archdeacon Mark, under the chanting of Hierodeacon Dositheos and the participation of many faithful who honour and venerate the Saint.
The archbishop preached the divine Word emphasizing the strong faith of Saint Panteleimon towards Jesus Christ.
During the Divine Liturgy, Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos and Holy Sepulchre Fathers visited the Holy Monastery for veneration.
The Patriarchal and Episcopal entourages were welcomed by nun Charitini, who looks after the Monastery.
