On Friday, August 2, 2024, Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria was warmly welcomed by the Orthodox Christian community of Varshets. The Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the Bulgarian Patriarchate received a heartfelt reception at St. George the Victorious Church by numerous faithful from the Vidin Diocese.
Addressing the media, Patriarch Daniil expressed his gratitude for the blessings of water, air, and the beautiful nature of Varshets. He acknowledged the opportunities for utilizing these gifts for the well-being of many people through resort tourism and spa treatments. The Patriarch wished continued success to the municipal leadership in developing these natural resources and thanked them for their collaboration with the Orthodox Church, emphasizing the importance of working together as commanded by God.
In light of the ongoing fires and the efforts to combat them, Patriarch Daniil mentioned that the Church is praying for the safety and support of those bravely fighting the fires. He emphasized the importance of dedication and sacrifice in facing danger, trusting in the Lord’s help in such challenging situations.
The evening Divine Liturgy with the Canon of Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated by the Patriarch, followed by blessings and greetings to the Orthodox Christians present. The next day, the Patriarch was set to lead a festive Holy Mass in Vidin to mark the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost.
