The 32nd anniversary of the enthronement of Archbishop Anastasios, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Albania, was celebrated on Tuesday, August 2, 2024, in the historic Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Tirana.
This significant event marks the beginning of the Church’s reconstruction and revival in Albania.
Archbishop Anastasios led the Divine Liturgy, joined by Metropolitan Ioannis of Koritsa, Metropolitan Nicholas of Apollonia and Fieri, Metropolitan Nathanael of Amantia, and Bishop Astio of Vildos, with Metropolitan Anthony of Elbasan participating in prayer.
Metropolitan John of Koritsa, speaking on behalf of the Holy Synod, clergy, and faithful, expressed gratitude to Archbishop Anastasios for his impactful missionary, pastoral, and liturgical work over the past 32 years, which have brought about fruitful reforms in the Church of Albania.
In his response, Archbishop Anastasios expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their love and support, emphasizing the importance of love in overcoming challenges. He ordained Deacon Fr. Spiro Topanxha to the priesthood and consecrated him as a protopresbyter, highlighting the qualities of kindness, love, faith, and humility that a clergyman should embody.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop Anastasios received greetings and reciprocated with a serene and pure smile, thanking all those who had gathered to celebrate.
