On July 1, the new Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria made a visit to the Holy Monastery of Saint John of Rila. This visit came after his first Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky in Sofia.
During his visit to the Monastery of Rila, Patriarch Daniel paid homage to the holy relics of Saint John and showed his respects. This event also commemorated the 555th anniversary of the return of Saint John’s relics to the monastery, where they are still housed to this day.
Furthermore, Patriarch Daniel took the opportunity to meet with refugee children from Ukraine who are currently seeking shelter in Bulgaria due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
