In a deeply emotional atmosphere, the 40-day memorial service for the late Metropolitan Ignatios of Berat was held on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Metropolitan Ioannis of Korçë presided over the memorial service at the Church of Saint Dimitrios in Berat, alongside other Metropolitans and clergy members.
Following the service, the clergy and faithful gathered at the tomb of the late Metropolitan Ignatios to perform a Trisagion service in his honor. Metropolitan Ioannis of Korçë reflected on the life and work of Metropolitan Ignatios, emphasizing the impact of love as the guiding force throughout his ministry.
Speaking at the memorial service, Metropolitan Georgios highlighted the late Metropolitan Ignatios’s thirty-two years of faithful service, humility, kindness, and devotion to Christ and His Church. He also mentioned the late Metropolitan’s love for his flock and his commitment to Archbishop Anastasios of Albania.
Metropolitan Georgios of Thebes, Livadia, and Avlida conducted a Trisagion service at the tomb of Metropolitan Ignatios upon arriving in Berat. The memorial service was a heartfelt tribute to a beloved shepherd who will always be remembered by the Orthodox faithful of the region.
